The Big Reveal: A Complete AI-Native FR2 Stack

At the big tech show in Taipei this June, Metanoia Communications took center stage with partners SynaXG and Aethertek. They unveiled what they’re calling the industry’s first end-to-end AI-RAN-enabled FR2 5G network solution. FR2 means the higher-frequency millimeter-wave bands that deliver blazing speeds but come with trickier coverage challenges.

The heart of it is the Albizia FR2 radio platform. It combines Metanoia’s MT2824 5G baseband system-on-chip, their MT3812 IF/RF transceiver, and Aethertek’s Nova Antenna-in-Module tech. This hardware pairs with SynaXG’s AI-RAN Central Unit and Distributed Unit software running on NVIDIA DGX Spark AI servers. The result? A fully integrated setup that lets operators run both traditional RAN functions and AI workloads on the same GPU-accelerated infrastructure.

This builds on earlier work. Metanoia is the first silicon vendor folded into the O-RAN Alliance’s WG7 white-box reference design for FR1 radios, with FR2 support in final review. Their MT2824 SoC powers everything from indoor 4T4R units to outdoor FR2 radios with 50 dBm EIRP. The company also highlighted progress in Taiwan’s national 5G programs through MoUs with local manufacturers.

Live demos at the show let visitors see FR1 and FR2 Open RAN solutions in action, all powered by that flagship chip. It’s not just lab talk—interoperability tests from the O-RAN PlugFest Spring 2026 already validated the approach.
